Hiroshima II

The history of Miyajima Island and Itsukushima Shrine could take up a lot of time to tell, so I will just give you the highlights.  We reached the island on a ferry in under half an hour.  Miyajima, or Shrine Island, is home to the huge, I mean ginormous, torii out in the water.  You can see how it looks like it is floating.  As for the Shrine itself, the main hall, a prayer hall and a theater stage are actually constructed over the water.  This is truly a magical place.

Another photo I have included shows another of the delightful aspects of this island; the free-roaming deer.  Just as with Deer Island, which is not too far from here, the deer here are considered like God.  This little one greeted us as we stepped ashore from the ferry.  What a delightful place to do Ashtar’s work.
